Digital transformation to accelerate infotech growth
January 03, 2022
Ever since the beginning of pandemic, a large part of our lives has moved online. This trend is likely to accelerate over the next few years. Enterprises, big and small, have been forced to opt for digital transformation to survive.
All of us are living extended reality of a Metaverse which is a combination of virtual and real worlds. This has meant tremendous opportunity for the enormously agile and value driven, Indian information technology industry, services or Business Process Management players, which are enabling and, in some cases, even driving the change.
Probably after the Y2K opportunity in the late 90s which heralded the arrival of the Indian IT industry on the worldwide radar, the sector has never had it so good.
This year the National Association of Software and Services companies estimates that exports of software and services would be in excess of $150bn and the overall growth of the industry may be in high single digit.
Large Indian IT services organizations such as TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL technologies and Tech Mahindra are likely to end this fiscal year with very healthy growth and margins.
Even the mid-sized and small companies too are witnessing strong growth in revenue and profitability. While growth is likely to continue, 2022 is likely to witness some problems too for Indian IT.
