Facebook working on audio chat app
February 12, 2021
Facebook is now reportedly working to fabricate its own social audio application like Clubhouse. As indicated by a report in The New York Times, the social network has requested that workers make a similar product like Clubhouse.
The product is “in its soonest phases of advancement” and the “project’s code name could change”.
“We’ve been connecting individuals through audio and video technologies for a long time and are continually investigating better approaches to improve that experience for individuals,” A Facebook representative was cited as saying in the report on Wednesday.
The news comes after Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg joined Clubhouse a week ago and participated in a talk about the future of augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR).
Facebook has a history of cloning its rivals. Instagram in 2016 copied a Snapchat include Stories that permits clients to share ephemeral videos and photographs. A year ago, Instagram debuted Reels, a TikTok-like video product.
When the video chat platform Zoom became more popular, Facebook immediately created Rooms, a group video chat service.
