February 19, 2021
Flipkart said it is working on scaling its loyalty programme, grocery and fashion business while continuing to invest in tech and infrastructure this year as it looks to build up its position in the Indian e-commerce market.
The company, which has seen massive celebration in its business during the pandemic, said it has been focusing on ensuring safety of employees and partners during last year.
Flipkart Group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy said, “Flipkart Plus which is very unique loyalty programme, is one very huge priority. Second, grocery as a category is something where we want to strengthen our value proposition, especially collaborating with the roughly million kirana partners we already have in our ecosystem”.
US retail giant Walmart said its international sales grew by 5.5% to USD 34.9 billion in last quarter, led by strong growth across Indian e-commerce arm Flipkart and some other markets.
The Bentonville based company saw its total revenue increasing 7.3% to a record USD 152.1 billion in the fourth quarter. On a yearly basis, Walmart’s revenue was up 6.7% to USD 559.2 billion.
