Indian Army launches secure WhatsApp like Chat App
December 24, 2021
The Indian Army has announced the launch of an in-house messaging application named ASIGMA (Army Secure IndiGeneous Messaging Application), which is considered as the “new generation, state of art, online application.” The application is developed completely by a group of officials of the Corps of Signals of the Army.
In a post on PIB (Press Information Bureau), it is said the application is being sent on the Army’s inner organization as a replacement of the Army Wide Area Network (AWAN) messaging application, which has been in assistance for the beyond 15 years. That being said, the application won’t advance toward mainstream application stores.
ASIGMA application has been handled on Army owned equipment and fits lifetime support with future overhauls, the note reads. The application will would like to offer a secure messaging network for internal usage, rather than depending on external servers, for example, WhatsApp and Signal that are subject to privacy matters.
The ASIGMA application will meet all “futuristic user requirements” with an improved-on UI. We can expect the application to offer nuts and bolts, for example, bunch visits, video and picture sharing, voice notes, and the sky is the limit from there. The press notes further read, “It [ASIGMA] has a variety of contemporary features including multi-level security, message prioritization and tracking, powerful worldwide address book and different options to meet the Army’s requirements.
