Instagram reels will start ads in India
April 23, 2021
Facebook Inc said it will start testing ads on Instagram Reels in India, Brazil, Germany and Australia, as the social media giant plans to bring in money from its short-form video feature.
The organization is looking to capitalize by its popularity in India, a quickly developing social media market, while rival TikTok has been prohibited from the country since a year ago. Facebook has said it intends to test different features in India, for example, allowing content makers to share Reel videos on their Facebook accounts.
The presentation of promotions is a “indication of how solid the energy is for Reels,” said Carolyn Everson, VP of worldwide business group at Facebook, in a meeting. Everson declined to share usage metrics for Reels.
Likewise with other content on Reels, advertisements can be as long as 30 seconds in length and clients can decide to skirt the promotions, Facebook said.
Facebook likewise declared it will allow sponsors to choose classes of video content they need to put ads on, like video about children and parenting, fitness and pets or workouts.
