Meta to build world’s fastest supercomputer to process data
January 25, 2022
Mark Zuckerberg has announced his social media domain Facebook’s parent organization Meta is building what he guarantees is the world’s fastest artificial intelligence supercomputer as a part of plans to build a virtual metaverse. He said it would help to boost its capacity to process the data, regardless of constant disputes about privacy and disinformation.
The Facebook founder said in a blogpost that the metaverse, an idea that blends the physical and digital world through virtual and augmented reality, will require “huge” computing power. The AI supercomputer, named AI Research SuperCluster (RSC) by Zuckerberg’s Meta business, is as of now the fifth fastest on the planet, the organization said.
Meta said in a blogpost that its new AI Research SuperCluster (RSC) would help the organization with building better AI models that can gain from trillions of examples, work across hundreds of dialects, and analyze text, pictures and video together to determine if content was harmful.
“This research won’t just help with keeping people safe on our services today, but also in the future, as we build for the metaverse,” the organization said in a blogpost.
Facebook said it believes the PC will be the fastest on the planet once it is fully build around mid-2022.
