Sony Pictures signs streaming deal with Netflix

In another indication of Netflix’s developing strength, Sony Pictures Entertainment has signed a four-year deal that will give the streaming giant the elite U.S. rights to Sony’s movies once they leave theaters and premium video-on-demand services.

The deal, which starts with the studio’s 2022 deliveries, expands on Netflix’s current association with Sony Pictures Animation and replaces the understanding Sony, one of only a few significant studios without its own streaming service, has had with Starz Entertainment since 2005.

That implies that impending movies like “Morbius,” which highlights Jared Leto playing the Marvel vampire, and “Unfamiliar,” featuring Tom Holland in a variation of a PlayStation game, will open up on Netflix after they complete their dramatic and on-request runs. As a feature of the arrangement, Sony will make a few motion pictures a year for Netflix, growing Sony’s record and giving Netflix selective movies for its service.
