TikTok begins testing in app shopping

ByteDance Ltd’s. TikTok is working with brands including streetwear label Hype to test in-application sales in Europe, a move that will increase its competition with Facebook Inc. what’s more, further blur the line between social media and online shopping.
The mainstream video application is expecting to recreate abroad the success of its Chinese-only cousin Douyin, which piled up $26 billion of online business transaction in its first year of activity. TikTok has started working with vendors in business sectors including the U.K. on ways they can sell products directly to a large number of clients on the application, individuals familiar with the matter say.
While TikTok has run special shopping campaigns previously, the current trials are a precursor to a more extensive launch of a worldwide online business service. The model so far is simply apparent to choose members and it stays obscure when the organization will kick off the formal launch.
