Facebook expands affordable & fast access to internet

In a bid to grow affordable internet access for people in general, Facebook India on Tuesday declared new partnerships with internet service providers (ISPs) D-Vois and Netplus.
The ISPs will utilize Facebook Connectivity’s Express Wi-Fi platform to launch public Wi-Fi hotspots of interest across Bengaluru and a several cities in Punjab.
“From Dharavi in Mumbai to Shillong, Aizawl, Vadodara, Rajkot, and numerous different towns and urban areas, the Express Wi-Fi platform is growing internet connection in the nation, enabling economic opportunities, innovation, and expression for individuals, organizations, and communications alike,” said Manish Chopra, Director and Head of Partnerships, Facebook India.
Express Wi-Fi is a software platform that enables mobile operators, satellite operators, and ISPs to assemble, develop, and monetize their Wi-Fi businesses in a sustainable and scalable way.
The platform is utilized by partners in more than 30 nations, connecting millions around the globe. In India, the platform has already been deployed by eight partners, giving public Wi-Fi options to people across 12 states.
