Facebook’s work app to integrate with Microsoft Teams
November 11, 2021
Facebook said on Wednesday it is integrating Workplace, the work-focused version of its social application, with Microsoft’s collaboration application Teams, so clients can all the more likely share information among the two platforms.
The progressions will permit clients to share content from Workplace’s newsfeed and from its groups into Microsoft’s (MSFT.O) Teams platform. Before long, it said, clients will be able to livestream video from Teams into Workplace groups.
Remote-working tools have become key features for organizations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“You need to meet representatives where they directly are, any place they’re taking care of their work, whatever platforms they’re most utilizing,” said Ujjwal Singh, head of Workplace, in a meeting. He said the integration was generally focused on clients of the both products.
Workplace, which the Silicon Valley organization uses as its internal messaging board, was launched outside of the organization five years prior. Former Facebook worker and whistle-blower Frances Haugen recently leaked internal presentations and discussions shared on the service.
The product is also used by organizations including Walmart and Deliveroo. Facebook says it has 7 million paid subscribers on Workplace.
