IBM broadens 5G deals with Verizon
June 28, 2021
Global Business Machines Corp. will offer telecom operators Verizon and Telefonica new services ranging from running 5G over a cloud platform to utilizing artificial intelligence, the US technology organization said on Monday.
Big technology players, for example, Microsoft and Amazon are competing for a part of 5G income by offering telecom operators cutting edge software tools.
IBM, using technology it got from purchasing programming firm Red Hat, will offer the telecom operators cloud services to run their organizations and help them in selling products tailored to clients. No financial terms were revealed about the tie-ups, which broadened IBM’s existing partnerships with the two firms.
A cloud platform uses software rather than actual hardware to perform network functions, helping telecom operators build 5G networks quicker, reduce costs and sell customized services.
