Struum launches ‘ClassPass for streaming’ service
May 26, 2021
Struum, the new streaming service from former Disney and Discovery executives, is today launching to the general public. Unlike traditional on-demand streamers, for example, Netflix, the Struum model is more akin to a “ClassPass for streaming,” as its will probably total content from more smaller video services at that point given access under its own membership.
Today, the streaming scene is overwhelmed by bigger membership services, including Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, HBO Max, Disney+ and YouTube, which together have a 75% share of the market, as per Nielsen. Be that as it may, Struum accepts there’s a potential for another help controlled by the long tail of the in excess of 250 niche and specialty streamers.
A large number of these smaller services offer their own subscriptions, yet won’t ever accomplish Netflix-size scale due to their more limited catalog and scope. Struum offers them an alternative way to revenue.
