BigBasket plans cashless & cashierless stores

Lineless, cashless and cashierless shops are coming close to you. Online grocery BigBasket is making plans to roll out unmanned convenience stores in Bengaluru sometime early next year as a part of a pilot project that seeks to copy an Amazon Go-like shopping experience.

The plan is to have 10 such stores to start with. Each keep will have 1/2 a dozen self-service scales. Computer imaginative and prescient and AI can be used to understand the objects you’ve got offered and the amount you need to pay. All payments will be via virtual modes.

The venture is being overseen through CTO Rakshit Daga’s workplace. Sources advised TOI that they have recognized keep locations. The pilot undertaking may have vegetables, culmination and a few packaged gadgets.

BigBasket declined to comment on the development. TOI has learnt that it’s in discussion with some tech vendors to put in force the assignment. One of these is Ascendum, a US and Bengaluru-primarily based business enterprise with 1,800 employees globally. An email sent to Ascendum did not elicit a reaction.
