Google collaborates with sheroes to support rural women entrepreneurs

Google has collaborated with sheroes to help 500 rural women entrepreneurs by connecting them with skilled persons and enabling access to resources, guidance and mentorship.
Last year, Google started a small pilot for an accelerator programme for 10 women entrepreneurs in rural regions across its Internet Saathi network. The programmes main focus was to solve basic business issues like customer acquisition, marketing and selling, digital existence, management skills and self-confidence.
Google India said, “Within three months, company saw increase in confidence level among the candidates and they went back and applied their knowledge to their businesses. Out of the total no. of participants 80% of the women started working on their digital presence”.
In 2015, the programme was initiated in partnership with Tata trusts to bring basic digital literacy skills to women in rural India. Since then, programme has inspired over 30 million women across the country.
