Meesho eyes e-grocery business
April 22, 2021
Recently crowded unicorn and social commerce application Meesho plans to use assets from its most recent $300 million fundraise to foray into the hotly contested e-grocery business in next few months.
The Bengaluru-settled startup will focus on bringing small time grocers in tier 2 and 3 urban cities web based, taking on profound took giants like Amazon, Reliance, Facebook, Walmart-upheld Flipkart and BigBasket for a piece of this huge unorganized retail pie in India.
“In the end, we will likely empower a wide range of private ventures to come on the web. Yet, for the following year and a half a high measure of spotlight will be just on grocery. There, our center is to bring kiranas on the internet,” Meesho CEO Vidit Aatrey told BusinessToday.In.
India’s quickly developing internet business market is seen developing by 30% every year to $200 billion by 2026. Further, the pandemic sped up e-grocery deals in the country as Indians started purchasing fundamental things online in a bid to try not to get the Covid.
