PayPal likely to debut new super app

PayPal is eyeing life past the checkout button. In the coming months, the firm is wanting to make a big appearance a pack of new services, which could incorporate high return bank accounts, registration services and stock-investing capabilities. It’s all being done with expectations of PayPal turning into the world’s next “super application,” much the same as China’s Alipay or WeChat, India’s Paytm or Singapore’s Grab.

A lot is on the line: If PayPal pulls it off, the organization could turn into a greater piece of US consumers lives than Amazon, Google or Facebook. In any case, in the US, there is no shortage of banking giants and technology firms that have fallen flat to achieve what PayPal wants to do.

“It’s hard to turn into a super application,” PayPal Chief Executive Officer Dan Schulman said in a meeting. “I think we get an opportunity on the off chance that we execute very well against this. In any case, it’s clearly a place that a lot of organizations are considering too.”
