TikTok launched its first lidar-powered AR effect

Snapchat was among the first applications to use the iPhone 12 Pro’s LiDAR Scanner for AR, however now TikTok has stuck to this same pattern. The social video application confirmed today it has launched its first-historically speaking lidar-controlled impact to help its clients celebrate the new year.

The impact includes an AR ball, like the one that drops in Times Square on New Year’s Eve. After commencement, the ball drops and detonates to occupy the live with confetti, just as a coasting “2021” noticeable all around.

Backing for LiDAR, or light location and running, was presented on the new lead 5G iPhone models, the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max, in the fall.
